Ichizo original armored doll Samurai Boy: Date Masamune has appeared!
This doll comes from our collaboration with SUZUKINE YUZAN in 2004. Combing our simple, modern and fashionable style with SUZUKINE YUZAN’s tastes, we’ve created a magnificent doll.
As for all our dolls, Ichizo’s authenticity is expressed through the fine details. The flexible joints and realistic face are trademarks of Ichizo quality. This particular doll features the realistic details of Date Masamune’s armor and his trademark crescent moon horn. Date was a renowned ally of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and was known as the 1-eyed dragon. He was known as a fierce samurai on the battlefield, and his crescent moon was a symbol associated with him. The moon itself is skewed to the left, as this helped him use his sword better during the Warring States Period. Another feature of this doll is, unlike other dolls, it has special sandals that are made from grass, fashioned in the same way as traditional sandals were during that era.
This fantastic armor is real and handmade just like any armor displayed in the studio of YUZAN SUZUKINE. This armor was destined for the realistic design of the ICHIZO doll, since all
our dolls are crafted, painted, and detailed by hand with no
printing or machinery. Therefore each doll has no copy,
making all of them truly special.
For example, the doll’s eyes are carefully drawn, using a blend of six colors. In this way, there is a gentle expression not found with other dolls. The detail extends down to the fingers and toes, showcasing fine craftsmanship. The doll itself is fully articulated allowing you to display it in any pose you desire.
The Samurai Boy may be small but it’s still very gallant. For those who adore the Warring States Period of Japan, this doll is for you. This also makes the perfect gift for friends and family members who love Japanese history or like truly fierce samurai!
In Japan, ICHIZO dolls are highly evaluated as art. Adhering to its’ hand-drawn and finishing techniques, this doll makes a fine addition to any collection.
